HOW TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT:

Call 252 422-6770.

WHEN ARE APPOINTMENTS AVAILABLE?

Roughly once a week, surgeon's choice.  Unless otherwise stipulated, drop-off time is 8:00-8:45 a.m.  Pick-up time is 5:00 p.m. sharp.  We send all our patients home "classroom-style" at the end of the day to save on the cost to each pet-owner, so it is VERY important that everyone is there on time.

WHY SPAY-NEUTER?

      * neutered pets live a average of 3 years more!
      * it costs 1/3 less to feed neutered pets  (
they maintain their weight better without horror-mones!)
      * less fighting, spraying & roaming (
your neighbors will appreciate this!)
      * neutered animals have nicer coats with less effort
      * fewer cancers, no unplanned pregnancies and NO life-threatening pyometra (
see the end of our SPAYS page for more on this)
      * neutered animals are less of a burden on the taxpayers (
do you have any idea how much Animal Control costs the taxpayers - eek!!!!)

CAN I GET OTHER SERVICES DONE?

Our Kindness Clinic offers excellent pricing on nail trims (just $10), vaccines & heartworm tests for dogs, leukemia-FIV testing for cats, Frontline (as low as $1.70 per dose!) & heartworm preventative (see below).  Excepting Frontline sales, these services are only available at the time of spay-neuter.

WHAT IS INCLUDED IN THE COST OF NEUTERING?

Distemper-combo and rabies vaccines are included for cats (they are $10 apiece for dogs).  All sutures are self-dissolving.  All animals are also checked for fleas & ear mites.  See chart for minimal donation.

A note about male cats:  They will need shredded paper or Yesterday's News pelleted cat litter for 10 days post-op to ensure that litter doesn't get into their incisions.  If you use shredded paper, you'll find that cross-cut shreddings are best, followed by long shreddings that are cut in half.
*** mandatory if not current

**** mandatory if mites are present
SHF's Kindness Clinic is presently between veterinarians.  As a result, we are doing cat & dog neuters, but no spays at this time.
